Cherry Blossom Update 3

Fluttering, drifting, gently floating back down to earth. Mostly a few petals at a time, but occasionally a small burst of wind shakes out a temporary snow-storm. Cherry blossom season has been good to the Hanami-goers, and now the trees are putting on their final act. Petals are starting to accumulate on river banks, and green leaves are showing in the early-bloomers.

Many questions spring to mind. Is this really the end? It has all happened so quickly. Or is it the begining of something else? Are the cherry blossoms teaching us about the cycle of life and death? In Japan, one way to say "how long have I got to live" is "will I see my next Sakura tree".

This is an emotional time - the trees are crying.

However, if the cherry blossoms have taught us anything, then surely it is to celebrate life.

And what could be better to help us do that than the magical sound of the pan pipes of the Andes, electronically-amplified for our listening enjoyment?

And, like the itinerant pan-pipe player, with little more than a suitcase of CDs and a colourful poncho, surely now is a time to be thankful for what we have, and look forward to the new.
